Stacia is the primary midwife and owner of Trillium Birth Services. She came to midwifery in the middle of her life after holding a wide range of jobs, from medical researcher to pop music reviewer. After completing her apprenticeship with Trillium founders Sierra Hillebrand and Kerry Lizon, she took over the practice and expanded it to include doula services, fertility services, and classes through Trillium Learning Community. Providing homebirths to women in southeast and south-central Michigan is still one of her strongest areas of focus. Stacia volunteers with The Center for the Childbearing Year as a committee member and supports their work with educating families and supporting low-income women.
We are grateful for our fantastic community. Here are some people we work with closely in our area:
Kate Mazzara, consulting midwife:
Kate provides vital support to Trillium clients as a backup midwife. She brings 12 years of experience with birthing women and their families to her work with our clients. She also brings her extraordinary compassion, likeability, and stamina to help us serve women well. Kate trained in Pennsylvania's Amish country and runs her own midwifery practice in Howell, MI, Mazzara Midwifery. If you wish to contact her and find out more about her work, you can email her.
Amanda Topping, consulting midwife:
Amanda is another midwife in our community who provides support occasionally to Trillium clients. We are incredibly grateful for her. She is incredibly funny, smart, and offers a wealth of skills and knowlege. Amanda trained with New Moon Midwifery and now is a partner in that practice. In addition to her work with Trillium, and her own midwifery practice, Amanda is a founding editor of The Birth Project.
Kate Stroud, massage therapist:
Kate is beloved by many Trillium clients for her skill as a massage therapist and has also helped rehab Stacia after more than a few long births! She is also an incredible doula and childbirth educator, and she can rollerskate too! Kate brings a huge passion to all of the work that she does and gets everyone around her excited about birth. She teaches childbirth and infant care classes at The Center for the Childbearing Year and runs an independent massage and birth doula practice. You can email her for more info about her services. Kate is also a founding editor of The Birth Project.
Our practice has a shared history with New Moon Midwifery, which is now headed by Amanda Smith and Amanda Topping. We think they are great midwives and are happy to have them be part of our community. Here is their website: New Moon
